Guide to free broadband

What is free broadband?
There are a number of broadband providers offering so called FREE Broadband, providers such as Sky and Talk Talk.
The broadband does actually cost you nothing additional, but the catch is that you cant purchase it on its own, you usually get it included in a package which normally includes calls.
Current Free broadand offers in the UK are as follows:
  • Talk Talk: In order to get free broadband you must sign up for TalkTalks line rental (£10.50 a month, equal to BT rate) and pay for their phone package (£5.89 or £9.99 a month). The phone package includes local and national calls (depending on time of day), as well as calls to some international destinations.
  • Sky:: In order to get free broadband you must sign up to a Sky TV package (cheapest rate is £16.00 a month) and continue to pay BT line rental (£10.50), although you can also get Sky Freetime for no additional cost and recieve free UK weekend and evening calls.
Free broadband package catches
These packages can have some hidden features including the following:
  • Extended contract lengths, such as 18 months and 24 months.
  • Under manned call centres offering a poorer customer service.
  • Setup costs may be applicable, such as Sky's £30 charge for new customers.
  • Poorer service, since you are likely to get what you pay for and hence get a lower quality service, such as low priority on the network.
